Injured Soldiers Must Return Sign On Bonuses

Pentagon Demands Return Of Sign On Bonuses From Injured Soldiers

Disturbingly, injured servicemen and women are required to return sign up bonuses if they are injured and unable to complete their term.

Jordon Fox, 20, suffered back injuries and the loss of an eye while serving in Iraq. Since he was unable complete his term, he’s being demanded to return $2800 of his sign on bonus and will lose the remaining $4800 of installments owed to him. Mr. Fox was quoted as saying "I tried to do my best and serve my country,". "Unfortunately I was hurt in the process.  Now they're telling me they want their money back."

It isn’t exactly a secret that I’ve opposed this war on fear from the beginning. The two main drivers that the White House have used to silence the lambs was a culture of fear and that if you questioned the rationale of the war, you don’t support the troops. As it turns out, it’s the same people that manipulated intelligence for war that in fact does not support the troops. It’s been evident with the lack of body armor, the atrocities at Walter Reed, blaming lower level troops for ordered torture at Abu Ghraib , and the basic abject failures of the implementation and process of this war without an interest in an end. We keep hearing the bogus nonsense of “fight them there so we won’t have to fight them here”(as if “they” had an army, navy or air force and as if “we” believed it enough to protect our boarders) while suggesting that unless we believe their rhetorical nonsense, we are disloyal to our troops.

Today, I’d like to say thank you to our troops. It’s great to be an American and to live in a free society. I don’t believe in the cause or the administration that has but you in harms way for their greed but I do have respect and appreciation for your dedication and service and I believe that’s true of most Americans here at home. Obviously more so than the government. Happy Thanksgiving and Godspeed.
